Many mothers I've spoken with often express feelings of fear, isolation, and overwhelming anxiety when it comes to caring for their newborns. The responsibilities can quickly become exhausting despite access to medical professionals like doctors and midwives.

Who else could they turn to for non-medical assistance? Here lies the role of a postpartum doula – providing mothers with crucial emotional, physical, and mental support during this critical period.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Erin Carroll-Manning, founder of Gentle Giraffes Newborn Care Family Services. She's an expert in newborn care, a trned Postpartum Doula PPD, Car Seat Technician, lactation support specialist, among other titles. She began her journey as a babysitter and grew through positions like a mother’s helper before specializing exclusively in newborns and family support during the post-birth period.

Erin is a Master Newborn Care Specialist who has completed the rigorous three-year Mentorship Program with Newborn Care Solutions – an exclusive trning program focusing on newborn care education.

With over two decades of experience caring for infants and toddlers, Erin offers comprehensive expertise in all aspects of newborn care, parental education, and support essential for optimal growth and development while also guiding parents through this new journey.

In addition to daytime hours and overnight shifts, Erin provides consultations that travel with families and babies alike. Her role as a PPD includes helping mothers recover from childbirth, managing household chores like laundry and meal preparation, assisting in atting doctor's appointments, and more – anything that ds the postpartum recovery process.

As an NCS and PPD a dual-trned title, Erin specializes in answering questions related to newborn care, supporting parents during bathing their baby, creating an environment for bonding between mother and child, and guiding them towards establishing a breastfeeding routine that promotes healthy development throughout day and night hours.

Her unique combination of trning along with extensive experience enables Erin to offer hands-on support at any time of the day or night – a privilege she cherishes in providing both mothers and their newborns with guidance and assurance.
