One out of every four Canadians currently provides care for family members or fris facing long-term conditions, disabilities associated with aging. As caregivers, they play an essential role in ensuring their loved onestheir spouse, parent, child, sibling, or frihave what they need to mntn safety, health, and love dly. However, taking on the responsibility of caring for a family member or fri often involves balancing demands like work, child-rearing, and mntning healthy relationships. It frequently entls performing demanding tasks that can be emotionally and physically taxing, which few caregivers are equipped with guidance on navigating support systems efficiently. Additionally, many caregivers mntn their composure while ignoring their limitations, impacting their health significantly.
In this presentation, Clre Webster, a former caregiver who founded McGill University's Dementia Education Program in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team at McGill following her mother’s 2016 passing from Alzheimer's disease, will share firsthand experiences of challenges faced and lessons learned during her caregiving journey. She'll delve into how her experience inspired advocacy for dementia care and led to the creation of innovative free educational resources med at supporting individuals living with dementia and their care partners.
The presentation will include an interactive question-and-answer period to facilitate a deeper exchange.

She is the Founder and President of Caregiver Crosswalk Inc., a consulting firm that provides education and support services for individuals navigating Alzheimer's disease andor dementia. Clre collaborates with McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine Health Sciences and its Geriatric Medicine Division to develop innovative educational resources.
